Plus Size Workout – Swimming, A Whole Body Plus Size Workout

Swimming For Your Plus Size Workout
One great plus size workout for the Curvy Goddess is swimming. If you’re looking for a healthy and fun activity thave burns calories while saving your joints from jarring damaging movements swimming can be an excellent plus size workout option for you, Curvy Goddess.

Swimming is an excellent choice for people with back problems, arthritis, and other joint problems. The water naturally slows down your movements while supporting your joints, making swimming a very low impact exercise.

Let’s compare swimming to running for your plus size workout routine. While running with each pound on the pavement shockwaves will be sent throughout the body.

Most people do not run efficiently causing over time joint damage and eventually injury to the ankles, knees, shins, hips, and back to name a few vulnerable areas.

Instead of weights for your resistance, water is used as your resistance in swimming.

The high viscosity of the water forces you to use practically all of the major muscle groups in order to push your body through the water.

In the summer months for your plus size workout take advantage of the community pools in your housing complex, community centers, and parks.

Also the beaches are great if the summer weather is sizzling hot.

For the colder months these facilities may be closed so you’ll need to find an indoor facility.

Health clubs and fitness centers may be viable options which will be open year round.

Gyms may also offer aqua exercise classes in which you’re incorporating exercises in the swimming pool that are great for your heart, lungs, and muscles.

You don’t have to attend classes for a great swimming plus size workout. If you know how to swim adding a freestyle swim around the pool is just enough for a great plus size workout.

If you’re a little rusty around the edges from not swimming for a while swimming classes are an option to remind your Curvy body how it’s done again. The faster you move the more muscle power you’ll have.

Focusing on an established plus size workout routine will help solidify your goals and give you a reference point by which you can track improvements. Why not give swimming a try? It’s a great plus size workout option for you to incoporate in a well-rounded fitness and strength program.

Until next time Curvy Goddess…Stay Strong and Stunning!

  1. I went last night and had a swim at a friends house with her and her daughter. I had such a great time. One of the other huge bennefits of swimming is the soothing and calming influence of the water. It is a fantastic stress buster. I have not laughed that much in a long long time.

  2. I was just reading through this and I am an Exercise Science major in Florida. I am a plus sized woman and I love my body. I slacked off from working out for actually working over the summer so I added more love to my frame. Now that the school year has started again I will go swimming tomorrow during my 5 hour break.

  3. Wow! I didn’t know that this was possible. I finally got a bathing suit (I know late in the game). So now I am gonna put it to use !

Have your say, Curvy Goddess. Leave a comment! :)
