Healthy Eating – The Other Option For Weight Loss

Incorporating a healthy eating strategy is necessary when wanting to lose weight, Curvy Girl. You can work out all you like. And exercise is the perfect way to reshape the body and increase the metabolism while building a strong, firm curvy body but it does not give you an all-access pass to eating whatever you want. That’s not what healthy eating is all about.

healthy eating

What is healthy eating? Healthy eating is not about calorie counting. Healthy eating is a non-dieting method to creating firm curves and a way to lose loads of fat the healthy way.

Healthy eating may take a little longer, but then again how long has it taken you to lose the rest of the weight dieting?

Were you suffering?

Did you feel hungry all the time when you were dieting?

My personal training clients who have succeeded in losing the weight did it the natural way without any gimmicks. They trained with me 2-3 times a week and did some more movement on their own.

They also chose the healthy eating path. The transition is smoother when they completed their weight loss journey and needed to maintain. They just continued with their healthy eating plans and worked out still because finally it was a way of life.

It was part of what they wanted to do to maintain health and a part of their happiness plan.

So what were my personal training clients’ healthy eating plans? Well there seemed to be some differences but I also saw some very similar healthy eating habits from them.

So here are some healthy eating tips for you to follow and finally get that weight off and start being a healthy and firm Curvy Girl!

Healthy Eating Tips From My Successful Curvy Goddesses:

healthy eatingSkip the regular soda and artificial sweetened soda and limit your alcohol consumption. – I’m sure we can all agree that artificial sweeteners are not good for you. Studies have shown that brain tumors have grown in monkeys and mice. There have been strange diseases popping up from drinking soda.
Drink water instead and if you don’t like straight water then you can spike the water with lemon, lime, orange, or cucumber slices. Refreshing!

If you want to lose the weight you’re going to have to limit the alcohol consumption to a glass or two of dry wine per day. The sugary mixed drinks are out of the question but can be left for special occasions.

Eat only when you’re hungry. – My clients who succeeded didn’t starve themselves. They were never on any crazy diets. They just cut back on their portions and started making healthier choices. Just eating only when you’re hungry and stopping when you’re satisfied is simple and hard at the same time but in the long run will become a habit.

Consume healthy carbs. – Just because you’re working out doesn’t mean that it’s okay to go for that pizza or french fries. Go for a baked potato instead or yams. Eat a real meal having whole foods rather than the pizza.

Stop relying on sports bars. – There is some powerful marketing going on out there. And most of us have bought into the idea that sports bars are part of healthy eating plans. Not really. Look at the ingredients on the package.

Healthy eating out when you want to socialize and connect with friends or when you’re out on a date but you’re still on the weight loss track is tricky but doable.

Again you choose the healthy eating to lose weight rather than the dieting plan because you want to not only make a smoother transition over to a healthy lifestyle after you’ve reached your goal but you want to enjoy the weight loss and healthy process.

What is healthy eating? (when socializing with friends) – YES there is such a thing.

Here Are Some Healthy Eating Out Tips:

  • Choose grilled and broiled rather than fried.
  • When drinking alcohol choose dry wine over sweet dessert wine and beer.
  • Skip the dessert but if you can’t pass it up then share it with a friend.
  • Stick to a baked potato with salsa rather than french fries.
  • Choose two appetizers rather than the entrée
  • Still be conscious of your hunger gauge.

Healthy eating to lose weight is always hard Curvy Girl. I completely understand. The struggle is real. But it is always a choice Curvy Girl and you can do it wherever you are and whatever situation you’re in.

I have been there where you are. But understand that the shortcuts from dieting are not really shortcuts.

Dieting truly is a long road to heartache and more suffering with a disconnected relationship with your body.

Go for the lifestyle change. Go for the healthy eating plans, Curvy Girl. In the long run your relationship with yourself and with food will be a happier, healthy one.

Hope the Healthy Eating – The Other Option For Weight Loss article was helpful and you’re walking away with an action plan. Until next time Curvy Goddess, Stay Strong and Stunning!

  2. Hi Maria! Thanks for thisi article. Especially the list of tips for eating out. It’s so helpful to have these things in mind when going out to eat. It’s so hard to say no to fries!! haha. But thank you so much. It’s great to have these as a resource.

  3. Eating healthy food is a good practice to stay healthy and more over including herbal products in your diet is a good approach. As it doesn’t have any side-effects.

  4. An excellent post on weight loss on a topic that tends to take second place to exercise. But in my opinion healthy eating and exercising are equal. Some people think that by exercising they burn more calories so the effects of the high carb food they eat are lessened. But if we exercise, it is more important to give our bodies the nutrients it need to operate well!

  5. I totally agree. A friend used to say it’s okay to eat unhealthy food because she is currently hitting the gym. This might be because it is really hard to control eating habits. I myself is guilty with the soda. I’m somehow addicted to it but I shifted to diet soda though I know regular and diet soda have not much difference, they are both unhealthy. I know, cutting back from these bad eating habits will all be worth it in the end.

  6. Soda should not to be drunk frequently ….
I personally just drink it once per month, and I prefer drinks just ordinary water because it’s good for my health … 🙂

  7. Try adding baked foods to your diet in place of fried ones. These come with lower oils and carbs, which can make you feel better during the day. You will find that you are far more energetic when you eat only healthily baked foods.

  8. I agree wholeheartedly. To me, my diet decision is based on more than weight loss and calories. Those were definitely factors, but I settled on Paleo because it focuses on healthy and natural eating – to me that’s just as important of a consideration as anything else.

BTW, great blog Diane! Love what you’re doing.

  9. Hi,

Your article is great. I am health/body conscious. I eat lots of fruits, vegetables and do exercise with my exercising machine often but I tend to overeat at times that’s why I’m guilty. “Eat only when hungry and stop whenever we are satisfied” hahaha! I should really keep this in mind. Thank you for the tips.

  10. Agreeable post and tips too.having healthy food is a good for health including herbal products in your diet is good to maintain your health.

  11. Great article!! I’ve always been of the belief that no matter what diet strategy you use, it MUST work for you. What is the point if you can’t stick with it. These tips seem very doable for almost anyone. Healthy eating is not just a fad, it’s a way of life.

  12. I would rather say that healthy eating is one best thing to consider in losing weight. Diet pills and supplements are useless if we don’t eat healthy and good foods or shall we say we don’t have a good eating habit. Losing weight is not that hard, we need to be always motivated and strong enough to fight against any temptations.

  13. The sports bar diet was truly not working for me and my husband. We started grilling at home and inviting friends over. We can still watch the with people, and I don’t feel obligated to get a coke or fries. Small portions also helps. 🙂

  14. apple cider vinegar weight loss tips

Apple cider vinegar is a substance that has been used for many years as a home remedy for many different problems such as stomach flu, high cholesterol, sore throats, joint pain and sinus infections. But one of the most touted benefits that apple cider vinegar brings to the table is weight loss. One of the ways it helps out in this department is with control of hunger cravings. As recommended by Dr. D.C Jarvis, 1 to 2 tsp. of apple cider vinegar should be taken with water right before a meal. This helps to reduce appetite because of a fiber compound found in the vinegar called pectin. This substance mixes with the water and expands in the stomach, which causes appetite to be decreased.

  21. Thanks for this article, it reminds me of my different violations in terms of diet. I’m already overweight now for about 15 pounds and i want to strip that extra weight with proper diet and also exercise.

  22. Eat healthy and I think the most important point is eat only when you are hungary. I guess this is the most common mistake often done by everyone. As a result they intake more calories and which results in overweight.

Thanks For providing such an awesome article..

Surely i Will keep these things in mind
    Thanks

  23. Excellent article! So many people fail to realize the importance of healthy eating. They fail to know that you “healthy eating” is the most important aspect of losing weight. Most focus on lifting weights and exercise. Of course, there’s a balance of the two but you have to eat healthy. If you’re not eating healthy, you’re never going to reach the results you could have. There’s a fine line between all these aspects.

  24. Eating healthy is the only option for weight loss for me. There’s no other way to do it. Okay, maybe there is… Eating healthy and exercising. But eating healthy is the first option, really.

  25. Great tips for building the eating healthy habit. I can definitely use them. I eat a lot of junk food, you see, and I’m starting to gain weight so I need to stop…soon.

  26. Hey Diane, Great Article :-). This is just what I needed to hear. I have personally failed many times at losing weight because I restricted myself from too many calories instead of focusing on eating healthier foods as you’ve said in this Blog post.

I was hungry all the time and I suffered from big mood swings, probably from lack of Carbs. I was also crazy on eating those sports Bars but now I’m going to be staying right away from them.

  27. Mike, you’re right. You’d be amazed what can happen when you cut out every liquid except water. And drink LOADS of it. It also makes your skin look amazing! Good bye acne!

  28. Healthy food is necessary for everyone with workout or without body workout! Hygienic food is necessary to maintain the body! It helps in reducing extra fats from your body and provides proper protein and vitamins!

  29. First, excellent article and information. Many people believe weight loss is all about fitness and exercise. That couldn’t be further then the truth. Healthy eating is crucial. Eating healthy is more important then exercise, although you need both to lose weight effectively. Always watch your portions. Thanks for sharing!

  30. There’s no substitute for healthy eating and correct portion sizes. Plenty of water and resistance training don’t go astray too 🙂

  31. I am also not a fan of dieting and fasting. A healthy balanced eating will lead you to the victory over your weight. It will be a long struggle, but you will win. Would like to mention that portion also plays a great role. For example if oatmeal is considered to be healthy, it does not mean that you should eat a doubled portion in order to feel that you’ve eaten enough. Take care of your menu and portions!

  32. I also completely agree that losing weight needs to be part of your regular habits and not just a fad or something you do once. I eat as healthy as I can on a regular basis, and hardly ever eat fast foods.

Once it becomes part of your weekly shopping and cooking plan, and you cook great things that you enjoy eating, there is no going back.

And as you mentioned, there are loads of simple ways to avoid the weight gaining foods – dry wines, less sugary foods. Challenge assumptions (this is healthy, this is not) and read the packaging.

  33. The way we eat is directly related to our lifestyle so some of us have to change more than others. It’s your choice to be healthy or not, I know which I prefer. Thanks for a very good blog. I’m also a curvy type and not a stick insect.

  34. Eating healthy foods does not necessarily mean depriving yourself of the foods you love, but rather it’s about making better decisions with what you do eat as well as developing a well-balanced and healthy diet. The food we choose is so important to our health.

  35. Some people confuse eating healthy with dieting. You are able to lose weight by eating just clean foods rather than junk food and fried stuff. People just assume you have to eat like a bird to lose weight. Yes, calorie intake can be lowered, but not so much as to starve yourself. Thanks for the good info!

  36. I agree that healthy food an real food with fiber can cause some weight loss simply by filling you up and therefore being less calories. Proper amount of water can also make a significant difference. making a choice to eat an apple – or even two, instead of a bag of chips retrains your body but also fills you up in the short term.

And I like the picture that shows that avocado. Thanks

  37. Thank you for this post. I like the idea of healthy eating and also try to follow it. Fast weight loss does not mean quality and health and as it is said: Slow and steady wins the race!

  38. Eating only when you are hungry is nice idea.People should nt overloaded them selves with stuff.Another thing people should keep in mind that food should have been of low calorie value. You have mentioned right way to losse weight in safest way.

  40. Nutrition is key to a healthy weight, and knowing what is enough. It’s hard! Especially in our culture, where we have an abundance, and can snack whenever we want… I agree that it is okay to be a little hungry, but I am terrible at believing it for myself.

  41. Very creative and informative writing. I learned a lot from the post. I have bookmarked your blog and I become a regular reader of your blog. Please keep up the wonderful work.
